Join us for the Activate Alexandria! 5k Run/Walk sponsored by the YMCA Alexandria to Fight Childhood Obesity on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.   The race will start and finish at Cameron Run Regional Park, 4001 Eisenhower Ave., Alexandria, VA. 

The cost is $30 and entrants will receive a commemorative race t-shirt.  Race day registration is $35.  There is a discounted fee of $15 for ages 7-17 participating in the 5k. There will be a Kids 50 Yard Dash for ages 10 & under.  Please register for this dash on race day and there is no fee. 

Packet pick up and late registration will take place on Friday, October 5 from 4:30-8:30 p.m.  at the Y on Monroe Ave..  Race day packet pick up and registration will take place from 7:15-8:15 a.m. at the race site.  Parking for the race is in the front part of Cameron Run Regional Park (lot nearest Eisenhower Ave.)  

The 5k course is flat and fast from Cameron Run Regional Park, right out of the parking lot, down the trail, cross bridge in Ben Brenman Park, turn right.  Turn left after first structure and stay on outside trail.  Cross bridge and turn left, running along sidethe railroad tracks.  Pass the dog park, turn left and cross another bridge.  Cross street and turn left.  Continue stratight until meeting back at original path.  Turn right and make way back to Cameron Run on the same course.   After entering the parking lot, follow directions to make one partial loop, entering finish line (which will be on the back side of the start line).
