Register for the 2011 Nearly Naked Mile
What is better than running a Nearly Naked Mile and having a beer afterward, all in great November temperatures? Not much! Join us for the Nearly Naked Mile (and the party which takes place, before and after!). The Nearly Naked Mile will take place on November 12 at the Reston Town Center in Reston, VA. The event supports the Burn Foundation.
The D.C. Firefighters Burn Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization founded by active and retired Washington, D.C. Firefighters. The Foundation is dedicated to assisting in the recovery and rehabilitation of injured firefighters and burn patients in the D.C. Metropolitan Area. The Foundation supports burn research, treatment, and rehabilitation programs at Washington Hospital Center as well as the Children's Burn Camp Program. Firefighters and members of the Burn Center have a special empathy for burn victims. No other group witnesses more of the devastation that fire wreaks on the human body and spirit.
The Nearly Naked Mile takes place on November 12!
There will be multiple mile races beginning at 2 p.m. At the finish line, runners/walkers will be brought in by The Northern Virginia Bag Pipers "Pipe". Each finisher will receive a personal thanks from a Burn Survivor and if you are old enough to drink, you will receive one free beer. There will be food and drinks for kids and everyone. There will also be displays from the Burn Foundation and some antique and current fire engines along with firefighters and kids red hats...
We want everyone to feel comfortable in their skin, as burn victims do. We don't need to see you naked, but feel free to wear minimal running attire to get you through the run in the chilly conditions.
The first 500 registrants will receive commemorative flannel boxer shorts (gender specific sizing) and a commemorative pint glass. Register early!
There will be overall awards and age group awards for each race. There will be a team competition (as many runners as you'd like to have on your team, 4 score and a team score must have at least one female and one male). Overall winners will receive commemorative robes!
